Food cooking and eating – stories and ideas from a passionate foodie

No, I haven’t dried up!  Blogging went out of the window in the last couple of weeks, as I have been putting the finishing touches to my book, which will be available soon on Amazon (it is an e-book).

You may have tried this writing lark.  If you read blogs, at least you have an interest?  Well, the writing is fine by me.  Editing, fixing, checking…nightmare!  The worst thing is the photography schedule.  We have never eaten so many meals we didn’t really want just to get the next photo!

And have you ever tried to photograph food?  I have friends in the industry and some gifted (and award-winning) amateur contacts.  They all said (in different ways) “Er.  Not something I have done.  Apparently it is one of the hardest things to do…”  This is not good for motivation.

My camera is a Panasonic Lumix which is a hybrid.  18 x zoom.  And so many modes that I decided I had better read the instructions.  (I know.  A man reading instructions.  This will probably be in the news tonight).

And do you know that this little beauty has a SCN (stands for Scene) mode, and apart from babies and head shots and landscapes and sport, it has a FOOD mode.  Yep – I was as surprised as you are.  It allows really close close ups.  So much so, we ended up with food on the lens filter.  It didn’t make for artistic looking soft focus.  It just looked like a mucky lens.

Hey ho…

You will be the first to know when the book is out there!
